Chalfont St Giles Last updated: 19 Feb 2006 This is a beautiful and characteristic Chilterns village - mainly off the main road (A413) and extending both north west through domestic properties and south east through the shopping centre of the village then eastwards, westwards and further south east to more domestic property onward to an attached hamlet called Three Households. Situated only 26 miles north west of London - the village sits a few miles north of the A40 & M40 at Beaconsfield and north east of High Wycombe, with main line train connections to London and the midlands, and a few miles south of the closest underground station in Little Chalfont (known as Chalfont and Latimer station on the Metropolitan Line). North west of the village is Amersham and south east is Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross. The village is twinned with Graft de Rijp in Holland. The village has a pond on the green and a 12th century Norman church with its historical connection coming largely from its association with the poet John Milton who lived in the village in the appropriately named Milton's Cottage.
