Welcome to the Southerly Owners' Association web site.

The Southerly Owners' Association was formed in 1982 with the aim of promoting cruises, rallies and social events, and to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and information on all aspects of owning, sailing and maintaining Southerly yachts.

It is a thriving and very well supported body, which has succeeded in building many friendships, helping most members to increase the enjoyment and satisfaction of owning a Southerly. The Association became affiliated to the RYA in January 2002.

The Association is managed by a committee of about eight and is independent of the boat builders, Northshore, who support the SOA with technical information, rallies and Owners' Open Days.

A magazine is provided three times a year and includes details of forthcoming events, booking forms, technical information, and topical articles and, in the Spring edition, a membership list. In a typical year events would include at least three rallies, the Laying Up Supper, and the Annual General Meeting.

A Southerly 'Technical Topics' CD, which reproduces previous technical articles or experiences written by SOA members, Northshore and suppliers is now distributed free to every member.

The current subscription is £20 per year. The preferred method of payment is by standing order which makes an immediate payment on joining, followed by an annual payment to start the following 1st April. The mandate at the bottom of the application form should be filled in and the whole form returned to the Membership Secretary who will forward it to your bank. We have over 250 boats/members in the Association and, as our bank balance is healthy, we do not envisage the subscriptions being increased for some years.

An SOA members' burgee is included in the first subscription, replacement burgees and ties are available at £10 each.

We hope you would like to join the SOA and look forward to hearing from you. If you would like further information please contact the Membership Secretary (See "Contact Us" page).

A back-issue of the Newsletter will be sent for your interest and information. All current-year Magazines will be sent on receipt of your application.

Your comments and inputs to the Web Site would be welcomed as we build a central reference to all Southerly related information.
